As a sixth generation Longmont native, my family has been in the area for a long time and I have seen many changes in the Longmont area. My great, great, great-grandfather, Judge Seth Terry led the Chicago-Colorado Colony to the area in 1871 to start the town of Longmont. My great-grandfather, Lee Williams owned Williams’ café on Main Street and my grandfather, Dr. J.W. Harrison, started and owned the Animal Hospital on the corner of Mountain View Avenue and Main Street and was on the board that started Longmont United Hospital. My roots in the City of Longmont and my entrepreneurial spirit run deep.
With several years of experience and a strong foundation in both individual and business income taxes, I formed Jenny L. Baker, CPA, PC in November, 2009. Prior to starting my own firm, I had worked with four firms over the course of ten years. At each firm, I was exposed to a variety of bookkeeping, tax and IRS issues.
My exposure to accounting came when I was just in high school when I began doing all the bookkeeping for my father’s trucking business. I went on to major in accounting and minor in finance at the University of Wyoming. My focus became income taxes and public accounting in general. After completing my undergraduate work, I began working in public accounting while simultaneously working on a Masters of Taxation degree at the University of Denver. I earned my Certified Public Accountant designation in August, 2008.
I have always worked in public accounting and thoroughly enjoy it. I enjoy the variety and being able to help many people in many different ways. Whether it’s bookkeeping, preparing income tax returns, or representing taxpayers before the IRS, I feel like I can be of some service to them all and look forward to helping them.
